A Place to call Om...
Welcome to Rocky Mountain Yoga! We are Banff's dedicated yoga studio that offers over 25 weekly drop in classes. Residents and visitors to Banff can enjoy unlimited memberships from 1 week to 1 year or choose individual pass cards that cater to your schedule.
Located in the heart of downtown Banff, our studio is a convenient walk to the Bison Courtyard. Above the Wild Flour Bakery, take the stairs by the physio clinic to the second floor and a quiet gem awaits. RMY's intimate space of 1000sq.ft provides a quality experience that nurtures and revives the senses. A room with a view from the three large windows gazes towards the majestic Cascade Mountain. A perfect setting to feel connected to our inspiring landscape.
Rocky Mountain Yoga rolled out its mat in November 2009. Founder and teacher, Mindy Johnstone had moved back to Banff in 2008 with her young family and was surprised to see that there was no yoga studio but plenty of practitioners. As she taught and practiced in squash courts of hotels and retail store fronts, Mindy decided to seek out the perfect venue for a dedicated space. It was suggested the Bison Courtyard and it was her visionary husband who planted the proposal.
Dave Garrow is the master builder who created the space we all practice in today. From the textured hardword floors to the warm butternut squash color that frames the windows, he built what Mindy refers to as the Taj Mahal of Banff. A place we can gather as a community and admire the stunning landscape from our mats.
Mindy had spent years prior teaching, managing and volunteering at other studios and knows the importance of working together to create an environment where everyone feels welcome. She feels extremely grateful to the teachers and students at the studio, some who have been there since the beginning of RMY and others who have joined along the way. Each day fills us up with gratitude that we are fortunate to hold space for people to feel good and connect to their community.
